PASS IT FORWARD
In the past someone helped you
Now you Have the opportunity
to help others learn to use the computer
What we do
At the SeniorNet Minneapolis Center we teach people 50 and older about computer technology, how to use a personal computer and the Internet. For many students, this is a first exposure to a PC.
When
We hold classes three terms each year, winter, spring, and fall. Classes are two-hours, one day a week for a four-week session. Two classes are held each day, morning and afternoon Monday through Friday.
Classrooms
There are two classrooms with a PCX workstation for each student. One classroom has ten student PC's and the other six. Each classroom has an instructor's PC with an overhead projector.
Become a coach
Coaches circulate among the students and provide assistance using the mouse, the keyboard and performing specific course examples. We need at least two coaches for a class of ten.
Become a Teacher
For those with more experience, there is an opportunity to teach after familiarization with the course materials by serving as a coach.
Volunteers
Volunteers must be competent using an IBM compatible PC and have experience with the course application software. The National Seniornet Organization provides the course materials and sample exercises.
